Munising Rear Range Lighthouse

Located in Munising, Michigan, the Munising Rear Range Lighthouse was established in 1907 to work in tandem with the Munising Front Range Light. Painted white and standing 33 feet tall, this active lighthouse emits a steady red light that aligns with its front range counterpart to guide vessels through the East Channel. When viewed from the lake, the two red beacons line up vertically, creating focal planes at 79 and 107 feet above the water. The Rear Range Light sits on a hillside at the south end of Hemlock Street; while the tower itself is closed, the surrounding site is open to the public for viewing.

The Munising Rear Range Lighthouse stands tucked into a forested hillside, guiding ships through the East Channel of Lake Superior.
